Mrs. Jackman's Class

Well it's finally here and the count down is over...I don't know where to put an exclamation mark or a period, so I'll put both!.  It is so bitter/sweet.  We are all excited for summer break, but I am sad knowing that I'll go back to school on Tuesday, and nobody will be there.  I am also sad that it won't be the same kiddos next year.  I am very grateful that I will still be at this school next year - I hope I get lots of visits next year!

Anyway, I can get emotional at the end of this post.  It was such a fun week.  We still learned a lot - I loved that we learned even though school was almost out.  

5 days left: Italy Day!

Mrs.Wells taught us about Italy (her husband lived there for 2 years) and did a lot of fun activities from there.  She read a story about pasta, so they made some beautiful noodle art.

4 days left: Sit wherever you want!

 They were allowed to move their desks and sit by whomever they want for the rest of the year (week).  I thought it was funny that they decided to sit in rows, but I didn't mind at all.  They were very excited to sit by their friends - instead of mean Mrs.Jackman making the girls sit with all boys...I'm so mean, aren't I?  :)  We also "celebrated" the 4th of July on Tuesday, because we weren't going to be in school during that time.  We made some BEAUTIFUL fireworks with glitter and glue!  It was TONS of fun, and they all turned out very pretty.  I hope they all kept them and didn't throw them away.  These pictures were taken with my phone, so I apologize for the quality of them.

3 days left: Camp Day!

 It was field day this day, so it was a little crazy, but since we were having our AR party and almost nobody had met their AR goals yet, I decided to spend the rest of the day reading and taking AR tests.  They were able to bring blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, flash lights, and books.  All we did...was read.  Most of them met their AR goals after this, which was really exciting.  They were all doing a great job staying quiet and letting others read, and I was happy to see everyone reading so much and enjoying it.

2 days left: Water Party! - warning - LOTS of pictures!  I had my nice camera this day, so of course I took lots of pictures :)

 This was our AR Party!  We had a fun water party, even though the weather was a little bit colder than we had wanted (that's an understatement...I was freezing).  Luckily, the sun was out the majority of the time, so that helped a little bit.  The kids didn't care and they had fun anyway...plus the water was warm, so that was good.  :)

1 day left: Shaving Cream!

The last day of school!  We cleaned our desk with shaving cream!  The kids had a BLAST with this, and so did I!  We had a fun time doing this, and then we wiped off the top and inside of the desks with wet wipes.

I also made a yearbook for everyone (which I didn't take a picture of) and passed out these fun candy awards!  They turned out SO cute!  I was so excited to give them to everyone and have a little awards ceremony.

It was such a sad day having to say goodbye to everyone.  I really hope that I will get visits next year from these kids.  The year went by SO fast I can't even believe it.  I care so much about this class and it was so hard to say goodbye.  We sang our goodbye song:

Our goodbye song goes like this:
"It's time to go, farewell and goodbye.  The clock keeps ticking the days move along.  It's time to go, farewell and goodbye, we're saying so long with a song.  You may be sad when things come to an end, but something surprising could be 'round the bend.  Remember the old, and welcome the new, and savor each moment whatever you do." and then it repeats a couple of times, changing a word or two.

And then gave hugs and left.  I held it together until a few girls started to cry as they said bye...then I lost it completely.  I knew I would cry...but it was so pitiful.  I felt silly, but luckily there were 3 other girls crying with me.  :'-)  I was glad they were sad to leave, instead of saying "YAY!  No more Mrs.Jackman!"  So I guess that's a plus.  These kids taught me SO much this year, and I believe that I am truly a better person because of these children.  Thank you parents for sharing your children with me for a year.  It was a fun year, and I hope that they will enjoy 2nd grade as much as they enjoyed 1st.  I am truly blessed to have these kids in my life, and I hope I can stay in contact with everyone as they grow up.  They are wonderful kids, thank you parents for everything you do.  I hope and pray that I will have such amazing parents next year.  I have been the luckiest teacher in the world, and will miss all of you (students and parents).  Thank you for making this year so amazing.  I truly love being a teacher and throughout the year, I was reminded why I love being a teacher so much.  I can't imagine being anything other than a teacher.
